Current Lab Members

We're a new lab. Interested in joining our lab as an  undergraduate or graduate student? Send your CV /or information about your research interests to kyledan[at]stanford.edu.

The lab is open to rotation students for July 2023 and beyond. Graduate students must gain admission to a graduate program at Stanford University. We do not recruit directly to the lab.

We are not currently hiring technicians. Our next available postdoc position will likely open in Fall 2024 or Spring 2025.

Jenny Liu

Hi, I’m Jenny! As a technician in the Daniels lab, I am largely interested in applying synthetic biology approaches to understand gene regulatory networks. Prior to joining the Daniels lab, I obtained my undergraduate degree in Integrative Biology at Harvard College, where I conducted research on coral microbial communities. In my free time, I enjoy karaoke, hiking, and exploring new restaurants.

Nakoa Po

I'm a technician in the lab interested in building synthetic receptors and using them to control cell behavior. My short-term goal is to get really good at controlling the phenotype and behavior of immune cells with cool new receptors, while my ultra long-term goal is to fill my body with engineered cells and become an octo-armed space immortal. I completed my time as an undergrad at Michigan State University, where I studied ways to slow down aging in yeast. I love to read, write, wrestle, hike and cook mountainous piles of Mediterranean cuisine.

Wansang Cho, PhD

Hi, I'm Wansang! I am a postdoctoral scholar in Daniels lab. I received my B.S. degree in Chemistry and B.S. in Biological science (Double major), as well as my Ph.D. in Chemistry (Chemical Biology) at Seoul National University, South Korea. I am interested in synthetic biology - engineering biological systems to build better therapeutic strategies and fulfill our scientific knowledge. Isn't it wonderful to design our new piece of art from understanding biological design principles? In my free time, I enjoy taking a walk, driving across nature, cooking, and exploring new restaurants as well :)

Alex Beckett, PhD

Alex’s doctoral research focused on improving chimeric antigen receptor T cells for the treatment of pediatric solid tumors by targeting the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. She is interested in the immune synapse and re-polarizing immunosuppressive immune cells in the tumor microenvironment for the enhancement of immune cell therapies. Outside of lab she enjoys running, competing in triathlons, and refereeing rugby.

Hi, I’m Kamal. I am currently an MD-PhD candidate jointly advised by the Daniels and Kundaje labs. I graduated from Harvard and (briefly) attended the University of Cambridge as a Gates-Cambridge Scholar. I spent some time working in industry before coming back to school. I’m excited about applying machine learning approaches for improving cell therapies. Outside of lab, I love playing tennis, going to the gym and Daeho.

Hi, I'm Jodie! I am a graduate student in the Daniels lab. I received my B.S. in Pharmacology at the University of Toronto, Canada. After undergrad, I spent two years studying RNA processing at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland. I've since learned how promising synthetic biology and immunology are for tackling complex problems in health! In the Daniels lab, I'm interested in understanding how combinatorial engineering of proteins can alter immune cell phenotypes. I love rock climbing, playing spikeball, and discussing the human condition.

We're recruiting!

We are looking for creative and adventurous graduate students to join the lab! If you are a first year Stanford PhD student and want to rotate in the lab, contact us.
